Open House 10 – 3 PM

Maine Preservation, the statewide nonprofit historic preservation organization, will host an open house from 10 AM to 3 PM at its new headquarters at 233 West Main Street in Yarmouth, the 1858 Italianate Captain Reuben Merrill House. The house is still owned by the family of Captain Merrill, and contains its historic furnishings.  The open house is free and open to the public.

Book Signing 3 – 4 PM

At 3 PM, at the Old Meeting House (1796) at 25 Hillside Street in Yarmouth, Maine Preservation will offer book presentations, sales and signings by artist Eric Hopkins and photographer Fred Field.  Free and open to the public.

Annual Meeting 4 – 5 PM

Maine Preservation’s Annual Meeting will take place at 4 PM following the book signings at the Old Meeting House at 25 Hillside Street inYarmouth, including an annual report of preservation activity around the state by the Executive Director and success stories from our Field Service Advisors.  Free and open to the public.

Inaugural Gala 5:30 – 8:00 PM

After the Annual Meeting, Maine Preservation will host its Inaugural Gala at 5:30 PM at the Captain Merrill House, featuring live piano music on the historic Steinway baby grand and a live music ensemble under the tent by Joe Walsh & Friends from 317 Main Street Music Center. The gala will include a “Taste of Maine Preservation” with local food and drink from over a dozen local restaurants, plus complimentary cigars. State Historian Earle Shettleworth, Jr., will be an honored guest who will share his knowledge of the house.  Tickets are $75 per person for the gala, or $85 per person for the Yarmouth Historical Society tours plus the gala. The gala is a fundraiser to celebrate Maine Preservation’s move to our new headquarters at the Captain Merrill House.  Reservations are $75 per person.  Event includes tastings from local restaurants, open bar for wine, beer and spirits, with a signature cocktail for sale.  Complimentary cigars.
